Crafted by writers for writers…
The conference kicks off Friday evening at the Tacoma Community College Gig Harbor campus with a plenary session keynoted by Jim Lynch, a local author and Seattle native. Following his presentation, Jim will be available to conference participants during an informal mixer and book signing. Saturday activities include a master class taught by Mr. Lynch and a full complement of classes, workshops, and panels focusing on the craft and business of writing. Individual consultation appointments are also available. There will be a book store on site with copies of presenters’ works available for purchase. Designed to provide writers with an intimate setting in which to hone their craft, conference attendance will be limited to 75 participants.
This year at the Write in the Harbor conference we will have sessions on a wide variety of genres as well as our general writing and publishing sessions. Learn more about literary and commercial fiction genres and expand your writer’s toolbox to create richer and more interesting stories. This includes building better relationships between characters, creating fantastic or realistic worlds, and constructing a sense of suspense and mystery into your work.
Please check these web pages often for updated information regarding conference content and registration.
TCC Student Conference Fee Waiver
Two Tacoma Community College students who demonstrate financial need and an interest in writing will be given a fee waiver to attend Write in the Harbor. Attending writing conferences can be a very valuable experience for budding writers and we want to support this opportunity for our students! Thank you to the Marlene S. Bosanko and Charles F. Cline fund for making this opportunity available to TCC students.
Submit by October 21, 2016 deadline to be considered.
